Missions Team Giving Philosophy
“Believing that Jesus has commissioned us to ‘go and
make
disciples of all nations’ Matthew 28:19

Each year the Missions Team will present a budget plan for church approval based on the giving trends of: (1) 10% of the general offerings and (2) designated missions giving (personal over & above giving). {Proposal Passed on December 14, 2003}

The Tithe:
The meaning of the word “tithe” is “a tenth part.” The tithe is a Biblical principle: “A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD” Lev. 27:30. In the Old Testament there are different types of tithes and free will offerings. A tithe is a “first fruits” offering demonstrating our priorities; Proverbs 3:9 says, “Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops.” Jesus validated the tithe while challenging a further step of demonstrating mercy (Matt. 23:23). The tithe is a starting point (a minimum, not a maximum) for getting us on the path of giving. By tithing as a church we are setting the example of Biblical giving for God’s Kingdom purposes. We hope to also set an example in generous, free will gift offerings to missionaries and ministries, outside of livingwaters, that are about fulfilling God’s great commission.
